Quran 10:67

Surah Yunus, Verse 67

هُوَ ٱلَّذِى جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلَّيْلَ لِتَسْكُنُوا۟ فِيهِ وَٱلنَّهَارَ مُبْصِرًا إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَٰتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يَسْمَعُونَ

Word by word

هُوَ huwa He ٱلَّذِى alladhī (is) the One Who جَعَلَ jaʿala made لَكُمُ lakumu for you ٱلَّيْلَ al-layla the night لِتَسْكُنُوا۟ litaskunū that you may rest فِيهِ fīhi in it وَٱلنَّهَارَ wal-nahāra and the day مُبْصِرًا ۚ mub'ṣiran giving visibility إِنَّ inna Indeed فِى fī in ذَٰلِكَ dhālika that لَـَٔايَـٰتٍۢ laāyātin surely (are) Signs لِّقَوْمٍۢ liqawmin for a people يَسْمَعُونَ yasmaʿūna (who) listen

Transliteration

Huwa allathee jaAAala lakumu allaylalitaskunoo feehi wannahara mubsiran innafee thalika laayatin liqawmin yasmaAAoon

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

He it is Who hath appointed for you the night that ye should rest therein and the day giving sight. Lo! herein verily are portents for a folk that heed.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

He it is That hath made you the night that ye may rest therein, and the day to make things visible (to you). Verily in this are signs for those who listen (to His Message).

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

ثم أخبر أنه الذي جعل لعباده الليل ليسكنوا فيه ، أي : يستريحون فيه من نصبهم وكلالهم وحركاتهم ، ( والنهار مبصرا ) أي : مضيئا لمعاشهم وسعيهم ، وأسفارهم ومصالحهم ، ( إن في ذلك لآيات لقوم يسمعون ) أي : يسمعون هذه الحجج والأدلة ، فيعتبرون بها ، ويستدلون على عظمة خالقها ، ومقدرها ومسيرها .
