Quran 11:16

Surah Hud, Verse 16

أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَيْسَ لَهُمْ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ إِلَّا ٱلنَّارُ وَحَبِطَ مَا صَنَعُوا۟ فِيهَا وَبَٰطِلٌ مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ

Word by word

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ ulāika Those ٱلَّذِينَ alladhīna (are) the ones who لَيْسَ laysa (is) not لَهُمْ lahum for them فِى fī in ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ l-ākhirati the Hereafter إِلَّا illā except ٱلنَّارُ ۖ l-nāru the Fire وَحَبِطَ waḥabiṭa And (has) gone in vain مَا mā what صَنَعُوا۟ ṣanaʿū they did فِيهَا fīhā therein وَبَـٰطِلٌۭ wabāṭilun and (is) worthless مَّا mā what كَانُوا۟ kānū they used (to) يَعْمَلُونَ yaʿmalūna do

Transliteration

Ola-ika allatheena laysa lahumfee al-akhirati illa annaru wahabitama sanaAAoo feeha wabatilun makanoo yaAAmaloon

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

Those are they for whom is naught in the Hereafter save the Fire. (All) that they contrive here is vain and (all) that they are wont to do is fruitless.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

They are those for whom there is nothing in the Hereafter but the Fire: vain are the designs they frame therein, and of no effect and the deeds that they do!

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

وقال تعالى : ( من كان يريد العاجلة عجلنا له فيها ما نشاء لمن نريد ثم جعلنا له جهنم يصلاها مذموما مدحورا ومن أراد الآخرة وسعى لها سعيها وهو مؤمن فأولئك كان سعيهم مشكورا كلا نمد هؤلاء وهؤلاء من عطاء ربك وما كان عطاء ربك محظورا انظر كيف فضلنا بعضهم على بعض وللآخرة أكبر درجات وأكبر تفضيلا ) [ الإسراء : 18 - 21 ] ، وقال تعالى : ( من كان يريد حرث الآخرة نزد له في حرثه ومن كان يريد حرث الدنيا نؤته منها وما له في الآخرة من نصيب ) [ الشورى : 20 ] .
