Quran 11:19

Surah Hud, Verse 19

ٱلَّذِينَ يَصُدُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ وَيَبْغُونَهَا عِوَجًا وَهُم بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ هُمْ كَٰفِرُونَ

Word by word

ٱلَّذِينَ alladhīna Those who يَصُدُّونَ yaṣuddūna hinder عَن ʿan from سَبِيلِ sabīli (the) way ٱللَّهِ l-lahi (of) Allah وَيَبْغُونَهَا wayabghūnahā and seek (in) it عِوَجًۭا ʿiwajan crookedness وَهُم wahum while they بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ bil-ākhirati in the Hereafter هُمْ hum [they] كَـٰفِرُونَ kāfirūna (are) disbelievers

Transliteration

Allatheena yasuddoona AAansabeeli Allahi wayabghoonaha AAiwajan wahum bil-akhiratihum kafiroon

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

Who debar (men) from the way of Allah and would have it crooked, and who are disbelievers in the Hereafter.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

"Those who would hinder (men) from the path of Allah and would seek in it something crooked: these were they who denied the Hereafter!"

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

وقوله : ( الذين يصدون عن سبيل الله ويبغونها عوجا ) أي يردون الناس عن اتباع الحق وسلوك طريق الهدى الموصلة إلى الله عز وجل ويجنبونهم الجنة ، ( ويبغونها عوجا ) أي : ويريدون أن يكون طريقهم عوجا غير معتدلة ، ( وهم بالآخرة هم كافرون ) أي : جاحدون بها مكذبون بوقوعها وكونها .
