Quran 14:2

Surah Ibrahim, Verse 2

ٱللَّهِ ٱلَّذِى لَهُۥ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَوَيْلٌ لِّلْكَٰفِرِينَ مِنْ عَذَابٍ شَدِيدٍ

Word by word

ٱللَّهِ al-lahi Allah ٱلَّذِى alladhī (is) the One لَهُۥ lahu to Him (belongs) مَا mā whatever فِى fī (is) in ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ l-samāwāti the heavens وَمَا wamā and whatever فِى fī (is) in ٱلْأَرْضِ ۗ l-arḍi the earth وَوَيْلٌۭ wawaylun And woe لِّلْكَـٰفِرِينَ lil'kāfirīna to the disbelievers مِنْ min from عَذَابٍۢ ʿadhābin the punishment شَدِيدٍ shadīdin severe

Transliteration

Allahi allathee lahu mafee assamawati wama fee al-ardiwawaylun lilkafireena min AAathabin shadeed

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

Allah, unto Whom belongeth whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth. and woe unto the disbelievers from an awful doom;

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

Of Allah, to Whom do belong all things in the heavens and on earth! But alas for the Unbelievers for a terrible penalty (their Unfaith will bring them)!-

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

وقوله : ( الله الذي له ما في السماوات وما في الأرض ) قرأه بعضهم مستأنفا مرفوعا ، وقرأه آخرون على الإتباع صفة للجلالة ، كما قال تعالى : ( قل ياأيها الناس إني رسول الله إليكم جميعا الذي له ملك السماوات والأرض ) [ الأعراف : 158 ] .

وقوله : ( وويل للكافرين من عذاب شديد ) أي : ويل لهم يوم القيامة إذ خالفوك يا محمد وكذبوك .
