Quran 16:39

Surah An-Nahl, Verse 39

لِيُبَيِّنَ لَهُمُ ٱلَّذِى يَخْتَلِفُونَ فِيهِ وَلِيَعْلَمَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ أَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ كَٰذِبِينَ

Word by word

لِيُبَيِّنَ liyubayyina That He will make clear لَهُمُ lahumu to them ٱلَّذِى alladhī that يَخْتَلِفُونَ yakhtalifūna they differ فِيهِ fīhi wherein وَلِيَعْلَمَ waliyaʿlama and that may know ٱلَّذِينَ alladhīna those who كَفَرُوٓا۟ kafarū disbelieved أَنَّهُمْ annahum that they كَانُوا۟ kānū were كَـٰذِبِينَ kādhibīna liars

Transliteration

Liyubayyina lahumu allatheeyakhtalifoona feehi waliyaAAlama allatheena kafarooannahum kanoo kathibeen

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

That He may explain unto them that wherein they differ, and that those who disbelieved may know that they were liars.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

(They must be raised up), in order that He may manifest to them the truth of that wherein they differ, and that the rejecters of Truth may realise that they had indeed (surrendered to) Falsehood.

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

ثم ذكر تعالى حكمته في المعاد وقيام الأجساد يوم التناد ، فقال : ( ليبين لهم ) أي : للناس ( الذي يختلفون فيه ) أي : من كل شيء ، و ( ليجزي الذين أساءوا بما عملوا ويجزي الذين أحسنوا بالحسنى ) [ النجم : 31 ] ( وليعلم الذين كفروا أنهم كانوا كاذبين ) أي : في أيمانهم وأقسامهم : لا يبعث الله من يموت ; ولهذا يدعون يوم القيامة إلى نار جهنم دعا ، وتقول لهم الزبانية : ( هذه النار التي كنتم بها تكذبون أفسحر هذا أم أنتم لا تبصرون اصلوها فاصبروا أو لا تصبروا سواء عليكم إنما تجزون ما كنتم تعملون ) [ الطور : 14 - 16 ] .
