Surah Al-Baqara, Verse 131

إِذْ قَالَ لَهُۥ رَبُّهُۥٓ أَسْلِمْ قَالَ أَسْلَمْتُ لِرَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ
Word by word
إِذْ idh When قَالَ qāla said لَهُۥ lahu to him رَبُّهُۥٓ rabbuhu his Lord أَسْلِمْ ۖ aslim Submit (yourself) قَالَ qāla he said أَسْلَمْتُ aslamtu I (have) submitted (myself) لِرَبِّ lirabbi to (the) Lord ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ l-ʿālamīna (of) the worlds
Transliteration
Ith qala lahu rabbuhu aslim qalaaslamtu lirabbi alAAalameen
Translations
Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall
When his Lord said unto him: Surrender! he said: I have surrendered to the Lord of the Worlds.
Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali
Behold! his Lord said to him: "Bow (thy will to Me):" He said: "I bow (my will) to the Lord and Cherisher of the Universe."
تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir
وقوله تعالى : ( إذ قال له ربه أسلم قال أسلمت لرب العالمين ) أي : أمره الله بالإخلاص له والاستسلام والانقياد ، فأجاب إلى ذلك شرعا وقدرا .
