Quran 2:262

Surah Al-Baqara, Verse 262

ٱلَّذِينَ يُنفِقُونَ أَمْوَٰلَهُمْ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ ثُمَّ لَا يُتْبِعُونَ مَآ أَنفَقُوا۟ مَنًّا وَلَآ أَذًى لَّهُمْ أَجْرُهُمْ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ وَلَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ

Word by word

ٱلَّذِينَ alladhīna Those who يُنفِقُونَ yunfiqūna spend أَمْوَٰلَهُمْ amwālahum their wealth فِى fī in سَبِيلِ sabīli (the) way ٱللَّهِ l-lahi (of) Allah ثُمَّ thumma then لَا lā not يُتْبِعُونَ yut'biʿūna they follow مَآ mā what أَنفَقُوا۟ anfaqū they spend مَنًّۭا mannan (with) reminders of generosity وَلَآ walā and not أَذًۭى ۙ adhan hurt لَّهُمْ lahum for them أَجْرُهُمْ ajruhum their reward عِندَ ʿinda (is) with رَبِّهِمْ rabbihim their Lord وَلَا walā and (there will be) no خَوْفٌ khawfun fear عَلَيْهِمْ ʿalayhim on them وَلَا walā and not هُمْ hum they يَحْزَنُونَ yaḥzanūna will grieve

Transliteration

Allatheena yunfiqoona amwalahumfee sabeeli Allahi thumma la yutbiAAoona maanfaqoo mannan wala athan lahum ajruhum AAindarabbihim wala khawfun AAalayhim wala hum yahzanoon

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

Those who spend their wealth for the cause of Allah and afterward make not reproach and injury to follow that which they have spent; their reward is with their Lord, and there shall no fear come upon them, neither shall they grieve.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

Those who spend their substance in the cause of Allah, and follow not up their gifts with reminders of their generosity or with injury,-for them their reward is with their Lord: on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

يمدح تعالى الذين ينفقون أموالهم في سبيل الله ، ثم لا يتبعون ما أنفقوا من الخيرات والصدقات منا على من أعطوه ، فلا يمنون على أحد ، ولا يمنون به لا بقول ولا فعل .

وقوله : ( ولا أذى ) أي : لا يفعلون مع من أحسنوا إليه مكروها يحبطون به ما سلف من الإحسان . ثم وعدهم تعالى الجزاء الجزيل على ذلك ، فقال : ( لهم أجرهم عند ربهم ) أي : ثوابهم على الله ، لا على أحد سواه ( ولا خوف عليهم ) أي : فيما يستقبلونه من أهوال يوم القيامة ( ولا هم يحزنون ) أي : [ على ] ما خلفوه من الأولاد وما فاتهم من الحياة الدنيا وزهرتها لا يأسفون عليها ; لأنهم قد صاروا إلى ما هو خير لهم من ذلك .
