Quran 22:35

Surah Al-Hajj, Verse 35

ٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا ذُكِرَ ٱللَّهُ وَجِلَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْ وَٱلصَّٰبِرِينَ عَلَىٰ مَآ أَصَابَهُمْ وَٱلْمُقِيمِى ٱلصَّلَوٰةِ وَمِمَّا رَزَقْنَٰهُمْ يُنفِقُونَ

Word by word

ٱلَّذِينَ alladhīna Those إِذَا idhā when ذُكِرَ dhukira is mentioned ٱللَّهُ l-lahu Allah وَجِلَتْ wajilat fear قُلُوبُهُمْ qulūbuhum their hearts وَٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَ wal-ṣābirīna and those who are patient عَلَىٰ ʿalā over مَآ mā whatever أَصَابَهُمْ aṣābahum has afflicted them وَٱلْمُقِيمِى wal-muqīmī and those who establish ٱلصَّلَوٰةِ l-ṣalati the prayer وَمِمَّا wamimmā and out of what رَزَقْنَـٰهُمْ razaqnāhum We have provided them يُنفِقُونَ yunfiqūna they spend

Transliteration

Allatheena itha thukiraAllahu wajilat quloobuhum wassabireenaAAala ma asabahum walmuqeemee assalatiwamimma razaqnahum yunfiqoon

Translations

Whose hearts fear when Allah is mentioned, and the patient of whatever may befall them, and those who establish worship and who spend of that We have bestowed on them.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

To those whose hearts when Allah is mentioned, are filled with fear, who show patient perseverance over their afflictions, keep up regular prayer, and spend (in charity) out of what We have bestowed upon them.

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

( الذين إذا ذكر الله وجلت قلوبهم ) أي : خافت منه قلوبهم ، ( والصابرين على ما أصابهم ) أي : من المصائب .

قال الحسن البصري : والله لتصبرن أو لتهلكن .

( والمقيمي الصلاة ) : قرأ الجمهور بالإضافة . السبعة ، وبقية العشرة أيضا . وقرأ ابن السميقع : " والمقيمين الصلاة " بالنصب .

وقال الحسن البصري : ( والمقيمي الصلاة ) ، وإنما حذفت النون هاهنا تخفيفا ، ولو حذفت للإضافة لوجب خفض الصلاة ، ولكن على سبيل التخفيف فنصبت .

أي : المؤدين حق الله فيما أوجب عليهم من أداء فرائضه ، ( ومما رزقناهم ينفقون ) أي : وينفقون ما آتاهم الله من طيب الرزق على أهليهم وأرقائهم وقراباتهم ، وفقرائهم ومحاويجهم ، ويحسنون إلى خلق الله مع محافظتهم على حدود الله . وهذه بخلاف صفات المنافقين ، فإنهم بالعكس من هذا كله ، كما تقدم تفسيره في سورة " براءة " [ فلله الحمد والمنة ] .
