Quran 23:115
Surah Al-Muminoon, Verse 115

أَفَحَسِبْتُمْ أَنَّمَا خَلَقْنَٰكُمْ عَبَثًا وَأَنَّكُمْ إِلَيْنَا لَا تُرْجَعُونَ
Word by word
أَفَحَسِبْتُمْ afaḥasib'tum Then did you think أَنَّمَا annamā that خَلَقْنَـٰكُمْ khalaqnākum We created you عَبَثًۭا ʿabathan uselessly وَأَنَّكُمْ wa-annakum and that you إِلَيْنَا ilaynā to Us لَا lā not تُرْجَعُونَ tur'jaʿūna will be returned
Transliteration
Afahasibtum annama khalaqnakumAAabathan waannakum ilayna la turjaAAoon
Translations

Deemed ye then that We had created you for naught, and that ye would not be returned unto Us?
Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali
"Did ye then think that We had created you in jest, and that ye would not be brought back to Us (for account)?"
تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir
وقوله : ( أفحسبتم أنما خلقناكم عبثا ) أي : أفظننتم أنكم مخلوقون عبثا بلا قصد ولا إرادة منكم ولا حكمة لنا ، ( وأنكم إلينا لا ترجعون ) أي : لا تعودون في الدار الآخرة ، كما قال : ( أيحسب الإنسان أن يترك سدى ) [ القيامة : 36 ] ، يعني هملا .
