Quran 24:20
Surah An-Noor, Verse 20

وَلَوْلَا فَضْلُ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَتُهُۥ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ رَءُوفٌ رَّحِيمٌ
Word by word
وَلَوْلَا walawlā And if not فَضْلُ faḍlu (for the) Grace of Allah ٱللَّهِ l-lahi (for the) Grace of Allah عَلَيْكُمْ ʿalaykum upon you وَرَحْمَتُهُۥ waraḥmatuhu and His Mercy وَأَنَّ wa-anna And that ٱللَّهَ l-laha Allah رَءُوفٌۭ raūfun (is) Full of Kindness رَّحِيمٌۭ raḥīmun Most Merciful
Transliteration
Walawla fadlu AllahiAAalaykum warahmatuhu waanna Allaha raoofun raheem
Translations
Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall
Had it not been for the grace of Allah and His mercy unto you, and that Allah is Clement, Merciful, (ye had been undone).
Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali
Were it not for the grace and mercy of Allah on you, and that Allah is full of kindness and mercy, (ye would be ruined indeed).
تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir
يقول تعالى : ( ولولا فضل الله عليكم ورحمته وأن الله رءوف رحيم ) أي : لولا هذا لكان أمر آخر ، ولكنه تعالى رؤوف بعباده ، رحيم بهم . فتاب على من تاب إليه من هذه [ القضية ] وطهر من طهر منهم بالحد الذي أقيم عليه .
