Quran 25:13

Surah Al-Furqaan, Verse 13

وَإِذَآ أُلْقُوا۟ مِنْهَا مَكَانًا ضَيِّقًا مُّقَرَّنِينَ دَعَوْا۟ هُنَالِكَ ثُبُورًا

Word by word

وَإِذَآ wa-idhā And when أُلْقُوا۟ ul'qū they are thrown مِنْهَا min'hā thereof مَكَانًۭا makānan (in) a place ضَيِّقًۭا ḍayyiqan narrow مُّقَرَّنِينَ muqarranīna bound in chains دَعَوْا۟ daʿaw they will call هُنَالِكَ hunālika there ثُبُورًۭا thubūran (for) destruction

Transliteration

Wa-itha olqoo minha makanandayyiqan muqarraneena daAAaw hunalika thuboora

Translations

And when they are flung into a narrow place thereof, chained together, they pray for destruction there.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

And when they are cast, bound together into a constricted place therein, they will plead for destruction there and then!

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

وقوله : ( وإذا ألقوا منها مكانا ضيقا ) قال قتادة ، عن أبي أيوب ، عن عبد الله بن عمرو قال : مثل الزج في الرمح أي : من ضيقه .

وقال عبد الله بن وهب : أخبرني نافع بن يزيد ، عن يحيى بن أبي أسيد - يرفع الحديث إلى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم - أنه سئل عن قول الله ( وإذا ألقوا منها مكانا ضيقا مقرنين ) قال : " والذي نفسي بيده ، إنهم ليستكرهون في النار ، كما يستكره الوتد في الحائط " .

وقوله ( مقرنين ) قال أبو صالح : يعني مكتفين : ( دعوا هنالك ثبورا ) أي : بالويل والحسرة والخيبة .
