Quran 28:75

Surah Al-Qasas, Verse 75

وَنَزَعْنَا مِن كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ شَهِيدًا فَقُلْنَا هَاتُوا۟ بُرْهَٰنَكُمْ فَعَلِمُوٓا۟ أَنَّ ٱلْحَقَّ لِلَّهِ وَضَلَّ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَفْتَرُونَ

Word by word

وَنَزَعْنَا wanazaʿnā And We will draw forth مِن min from كُلِّ kulli every أُمَّةٍۢ ummatin nation شَهِيدًۭا shahīdan a witness فَقُلْنَا faqul'nā and We will say هَاتُوا۟ hātū Bring بُرْهَـٰنَكُمْ bur'hānakum your proof فَعَلِمُوٓا۟ faʿalimū Then they will know أَنَّ anna that ٱلْحَقَّ l-ḥaqa the truth لِلَّهِ lillahi (is) for Allah وَضَلَّ waḍalla and (will be) lost عَنْهُم ʿanhum from them مَّا mā what كَانُوا۟ kānū they used (to) يَفْتَرُونَ yaftarūna invent

Transliteration

WanazaAAna min kulli ommatinshaheedan faqulna hatoo burhanakumfaAAalimoo anna alhaqqa lillahi wadallaAAanhum ma kanoo yaftaroon

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

And We shall take out from every nation a witness and We shall say: Bring your proof. Then they will know that Allah hath the Truth, and all that they invented will have failed them.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

And from each people shall We draw a witness, and We shall say: "Produce your Proof": then shall they know that the Truth is in Allah (alone), and the (lies) which they invented will leave them in lurch.

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

( ونزعنا من كل أمة شهيدا ) : قال مجاهد : يعني رسولا . ( فقلنا هاتوا برهانكم ) أي : على صحة ما ادعيتموه من أن لله شركاء ، ( فعلموا أن الحق لله ) أي : لا إله غيره ، أي : فلم ينطقوا ولم يحيروا جوابا ، ( وضل عنهم ما كانوا يفترون ) أي : ذهبوا فلم ينفعوهم .
