Quran 28:77

Surah Al-Qasas, Verse 77

وَٱبْتَغِ فِيمَآ ءَاتَىٰكَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلدَّارَ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةَ وَلَا تَنسَ نَصِيبَكَ مِنَ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَأَحْسِن كَمَآ أَحْسَنَ ٱللَّهُ إِلَيْكَ وَلَا تَبْغِ ٱلْفَسَادَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ ٱلْمُفْسِدِينَ

Word by word

وَٱبْتَغِ wa-ib'taghi But seek فِيمَآ fīmā through what ءَاتَىٰكَ ātāka Allah has given you ٱللَّهُ l-lahu Allah has given you ٱلدَّارَ l-dāra the home ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةَ ۖ l-ākhirata (of) the Hereafter وَلَا walā and (do) not تَنسَ tansa forget نَصِيبَكَ naṣībaka your share مِنَ mina of ٱلدُّنْيَا ۖ l-dun'yā the world وَأَحْسِن wa-aḥsin And do good كَمَآ kamā as أَحْسَنَ aḥsana Allah has been good ٱللَّهُ l-lahu Allah has been good إِلَيْكَ ۖ ilayka to you وَلَا walā And (do) not تَبْغِ tabghi seek ٱلْفَسَادَ l-fasāda corruption فِى fī in ٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ l-arḍi the earth إِنَّ inna Indeed ٱللَّهَ l-laha Allah لَا lā (does) not يُحِبُّ yuḥibbu love ٱلْمُفْسِدِينَ l-muf'sidīna the corrupters

Transliteration

Wabtaghi feema atakaAllahu addara al-akhirata walatansa naseebaka mina addunya waahsinkama ahsana Allahu ilayka wala tabghialfasada fee al-ardi inna Allaha layuhibbu almufsideen

But seek the abode of the Hereafter in that which Allah hath given thee and neglect not thy portion of the world, and be thou kind even as Allah hath been kind to thee, and seek not corruption in the earth; lo! Allah loveth not corrupters,

"But seek, with the (wealth) which Allah has bestowed on thee, the Home of the Hereafter, nor forget thy portion in this world: but do thou good, as Allah has been good to thee, and seek not (occasions for) mischief in the land: for Allah loves not those who do mischief."

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

وقوله : ( وابتغ فيما آتاك الله الدار الآخرة ولا تنس نصيبك من الدنيا ) أي : استعمل ما وهبك الله من هذا المال الجزيل والنعمة الطائلة ، في طاعة ربك والتقرب إليه بأنواع القربات ، التي يحصل لك بها الثواب في الدار الآخرة . ( ولا تنس نصيبك من الدنيا ) أي : مما أباح الله فيها من المآكل والمشارب والملابس والمساكن والمناكح ، فإن لربك عليك حقا ، ولنفسك عليك حقا ، ولأهلك عليك حقا ، ولزورك عليك حقا ، فآت كل ذي حق حقه .

( وأحسن كما أحسن الله إليك ) أي : أحسن إلى خلقه كما أحسن هو إليك ( ولا تبغ الفساد في الأرض ) أي : لا تكن همتك بما أنت فيه أن تفسد به الأرض ، وتسيء إلى خلق الله ( إن الله لا يحب المفسدين ) .
