Quran 29:39

Surah Al-Ankaboot, Verse 39

وَقَٰرُونَ وَفِرْعَوْنَ وَهَٰمَٰنَ وَلَقَدْ جَآءَهُم مُّوسَىٰ بِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ فَٱسْتَكْبَرُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ سَٰبِقِينَ

Word by word

وَقَـٰرُونَ waqārūna And Qarun وَفِرْعَوْنَ wafir'ʿawna and Firaun وَهَـٰمَـٰنَ ۖ wahāmāna and Haman وَلَقَدْ walaqad And certainly جَآءَهُم jāahum came to them مُّوسَىٰ mūsā Musa بِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِ bil-bayināti with clear evidences فَٱسْتَكْبَرُوا۟ fa-is'takbarū but they were arrogant فِى fī in ٱلْأَرْضِ l-arḍi the earth وَمَا wamā and not كَانُوا۟ kānū they could سَـٰبِقِينَ sābiqīna outstrip Us

Transliteration

Waqaroona wafirAAawna wahamanawalaqad jaahum moosa bilbayyinati fastakbaroofee al-ardi wama kanoo sabiqeen

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

And Korah, Pharaoh and Haman! Moses came unto them with clear proofs (of Allah's Sovereignty), but they were boastful in the land. And they were not winners (in the race).

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

(Remember also) Qarun, Pharaoh, and Haman: there came to them Moses with Clear Signs, but they behaved with insolence on the earth; yet they could not overreach (Us).

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

وقارون صاحب الأموال الجزيلة ومفاتيح الكنوز الثقيلة . وفرعون ملك مصر في زمان موسى ووزيره هامان القبطيان الكافران بالله ورسوله .
