Quran 30:29

Surah Ar-Room, Verse 29

بَلِ ٱتَّبَعَ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوٓا۟ أَهْوَآءَهُم بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ فَمَن يَهْدِى مَنْ أَضَلَّ ٱللَّهُ وَمَا لَهُم مِّن نَّٰصِرِينَ

Word by word

بَلِ bali Nay ٱتَّبَعَ ittabaʿa follow ٱلَّذِينَ alladhīna those who ظَلَمُوٓا۟ ẓalamū do wrong أَهْوَآءَهُم ahwāahum their desires بِغَيْرِ bighayri without عِلْمٍۢ ۖ ʿil'min knowledge فَمَن faman Then who يَهْدِى yahdī (can) guide مَنْ man (one) whom أَضَلَّ aḍalla Allah has let go astray ٱللَّهُ ۖ l-lahu Allah has let go astray وَمَا wamā And not لَهُم lahum for them مِّن min any نَّـٰصِرِينَ nāṣirīna helpers

Transliteration

Bali ittabaAAa allatheena thalamooahwaahum bighayri AAilmin faman yahdee man adallaAllahu wama lahum min nasireen

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

Nay, but those who do wrong follow their own lusts without knowledge. Who is able to guide him whom Allah hath sent astray? For such there are no helpers.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

Nay, the wrong-doers (merely) follow their own lusts, being devoid of knowledge. But who will guide those whom Allah leaves astray? To them there will be no helpers.

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

ثم قال تعالى مبينا أن المشركين إنما عبدوا غيره سفها من أنفسهم وجهلا ( بل اتبع الذين ظلموا ) أي : المشركون ) أهواءهم ) أي : في عبادتهم الأنداد بغير علم ، ( فمن يهدي من أضل الله ) [ أي : فلا أحد يهديهم إذا كتب الله إضلالهم ] ، ( وما لهم من ناصرين ) أي : ليس لهم من قدرة الله منقذ ولا مجير ، ولا محيد لهم عنه; لأنه ما شاء كان ، وما لم يشأ لم يكن .
