Quran 35:9

Surah Faatir, Verse 9

وَٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَرْسَلَ ٱلرِّيَٰحَ فَتُثِيرُ سَحَابًا فَسُقْنَٰهُ إِلَىٰ بَلَدٍ مَّيِّتٍ فَأَحْيَيْنَا بِهِ ٱلْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَا كَذَٰلِكَ ٱلنُّشُورُ

Word by word

وَٱللَّهُ wal-lahu And Allah ٱلَّذِىٓ alladhī (is) the One Who أَرْسَلَ arsala sends ٱلرِّيَـٰحَ l-riyāḥa the winds فَتُثِيرُ fatuthīru so that they raise سَحَابًۭا saḥāban (the) clouds فَسُقْنَـٰهُ fasuq'nāhu and We drive them إِلَىٰ ilā to بَلَدٍۢ baladin a land مَّيِّتٍۢ mayyitin dead فَأَحْيَيْنَا fa-aḥyaynā and We revive بِهِ bihi therewith ٱلْأَرْضَ l-arḍa the earth بَعْدَ baʿda after مَوْتِهَا ۚ mawtihā its death كَذَٰلِكَ kadhālika Thus ٱلنُّشُورُ l-nushūru (will be) the Resurrection

Transliteration

Wallahu allathee arsalaarriyaha fatutheeru sahaban fasuqnahuila baladin mayyitin faahyayna bihi al-ardabaAAda mawtiha kathalika annushoor

And Allah it is Who sendeth the winds and they raise a cloud; then We lead it unto a dead land and revive therewith the earth after its death. Such is the Resurrection.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

It is Allah Who sends forth the Winds, so that they raise up the Clouds, and We drive them to a land that is dead, and revive the earth therewith after its death: even so (will be) the Resurrection!

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

كثيرا ما يستدل تعالى على المعاد بإحيائه الأرض بعد موتها - كما في [ أول ] سورة الحج - ينبه عباده أن يعتبروا بهذا على ذلك ، فإن الأرض تكون ميتة هامدة لا نبات فيها ، فإذا أرسل إليها السحاب تحمل الماء وأنزله عليها ، ( اهتزت وربت وأنبتت من كل زوج بهيج ) [ الحج : 5 ] ، كذلك الأجساد ، إذا أراد الله سبحانه بعثها ونشورها ، أنزل من تحت العرش مطرا يعم الأرض جميعا فتنبت الأجساد في قبورها كما ينبت الحب في الأرض; ولهذا جاء في الصحيح : " كل ابن آدم يبلى إلا عجب الذنب ، منه خلق ومنه يركب " ; ولهذا قال تعالى : ( كذلك النشور ) .

وتقدم في " الحج " حديث أبي رزين : قلت : يا رسول الله ، كيف يحيي الله الموتى ؟ وما آية ذلك في خلقه ؟ قال : " يا أبا رزين ، أما مررت بوادي قومك محلا ثم مررت به يهتز خضرا ؟ " قلت : بلى . قال : " فكذلك يحيي الله الموتى " .
