Quran 45:25

Surah Al-Jaathiya, Verse 25

وَإِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِمْ ءَايَٰتُنَا بَيِّنَٰتٍ مَّا كَانَ حُجَّتَهُمْ إِلَّآ أَن قَالُوا۟ ٱئْتُوا۟ بِـَٔابَآئِنَآ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ

Word by word

وَإِذَا wa-idhā And when تُتْلَىٰ tut'lā are recited عَلَيْهِمْ ʿalayhim to them ءَايَـٰتُنَا āyātunā Our Verses بَيِّنَـٰتٍۢ bayyinātin clear مَّا mā not كَانَ kāna is حُجَّتَهُمْ ḥujjatahum their argument إِلَّآ illā except أَن an that قَالُوا۟ qālū they say ٱئْتُوا۟ i'tū Bring بِـَٔابَآئِنَآ biābāinā our forefathers إِن in if كُنتُمْ kuntum you are صَـٰدِقِينَ ṣādiqīna truthful

Transliteration

Wa-itha tutla AAalayhim ayatunabayyinatin ma kana hujjatahum illaan qaloo i/too bi-aba-ina in kuntum sadiqeen

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

And when Our clear revelations are recited unto them their only argument is that they say: Bring (back) our fathers. then, if ye are truthful.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

And when Our Clear Signs are rehearsed to them their argument is nothing but this: They say, "Bring (back) our forefathers, if what ye say is true!"

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

وقوله تعالى : ( وإذا تتلى عليهم آياتنا بينات ) أي : إذا استدل عليهم وبين لهم الحق ، وأن الله قادر على إعادة الأبدان بعد فنائها وتفرقها ، ( ما كان حجتهم إلا أن قالوا ائتوا بآبائنا إن كنتم صادقين ) أي : أحيوهم إن كان ما تقولونه حقا .
