Quran 46:3

Surah Al-Ahqaf, Verse 3

مَا خَلَقْنَا ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَآ إِلَّا بِٱلْحَقِّ وَأَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ عَمَّآ أُنذِرُوا۟ مُعْرِضُونَ

Word by word

مَا mā Not خَلَقْنَا khalaqnā We created ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ l-samāwāti the heavens وَٱلْأَرْضَ wal-arḍa and the earth وَمَا wamā and what بَيْنَهُمَآ baynahumā (is) between both of them إِلَّا illā except بِٱلْحَقِّ bil-ḥaqi in truth وَأَجَلٍۢ wa-ajalin and (for) a term مُّسَمًّۭى ۚ musamman appointed وَٱلَّذِينَ wa-alladhīna But those who كَفَرُوا۟ kafarū disbelieve عَمَّآ ʿammā from what أُنذِرُوا۟ undhirū they are warned مُعْرِضُونَ muʿ'riḍūna (are) turning away

Transliteration

Ma khalaqna assamawatiwal-arda wama baynahuma illabilhaqqi waajalin musamman wallatheenakafaroo AAamma onthiroo muAAridoon

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

We created not the heavens and the earth and all that is between them save with truth, and for a term appointed. But those who disbelieve turn away from that whereof they are warned.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

We created not the heavens and the earth and all between them but for just ends, and for a Term Appointed: But those who reject Faith turn away from that whereof they are warned.

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

ثم قال : ( ما خلقنا السموات والأرض وما بينهما إلا بالحق ) أي : لا على وجه العبث والباطل ، ( وأجل مسمى ) أي : إلى مدة معينة مضروبة لا تزيد ولا تنقص .

قوله : ( والذين كفروا عما أنذروا معرضون ) أي : لاهون عما يراد بهم ، وقد أنزل إليهم كتابا وأرسل إليهم رسول ، وهم معرضون عن ذلك كله ، أي : وسيعلمون غب ذلك .
