Quran 49:15

Surah Al-Hujuraat, Verse 15

إِنَّمَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَرْتَابُوا۟ وَجَٰهَدُوا۟ بِأَمْوَٰلِهِمْ وَأَنفُسِهِمْ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلصَّٰدِقُونَ

Word by word

إِنَّمَا innamā Only ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ l-mu'minūna the believers ٱلَّذِينَ alladhīna (are) those who ءَامَنُوا۟ āmanū believe بِٱللَّهِ bil-lahi in Allah وَرَسُولِهِۦ warasūlihi and His Messenger ثُمَّ thumma then لَمْ lam (do) not يَرْتَابُوا۟ yartābū doubt وَجَـٰهَدُوا۟ wajāhadū but strive بِأَمْوَٰلِهِمْ bi-amwālihim with their wealth وَأَنفُسِهِمْ wa-anfusihim and their lives فِى fī in سَبِيلِ sabīli (the) way ٱللَّهِ ۚ l-lahi (of) Allah أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ ulāika Those هُمُ humu [they] ٱلصَّـٰدِقُونَ l-ṣādiqūna (are) the truthful

Transliteration

Innama almu/minoona allatheenaamanoo billahi warasoolihi thumma lam yartaboowajahadoo bi-amwalihim waanfusihim fee sabeeli Allahiola-ika humu assadiqoon

Translations

The (true) believers are those only who believe in Allah and His messenger and afterward doubt not, but strive with their wealth and their lives for the cause of Allah. Such are the sincere.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

Only those are Believers who have believed in Allah and His Messenger, and have never since doubted, but have striven with their belongings and their persons in the Cause of Allah: Such are the sincere ones.

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

وقوله : ( إنما المؤمنون ) أي : إنما المؤمنون الكمل ( الذين آمنوا بالله ورسوله ثم لم يرتابوا ) أي : لم يشكوا ولا تزلزلوا ، بل ثبتوا على حال واحدة ، وهي التصديق المحض ، ( وجاهدوا بأموالهم وأنفسهم في سبيل الله ) أي : وبذلوا مهجهم ونفائس أموالهم في طاعة الله ورضوانه ، ( أولئك هم الصادقون ) أي : في قولهم إذا قالوا : " إنهم مؤمنون " ، لا كبعض الأعراب الذين ليس معهم من الدين إلا الكلمة الظاهرة .

وقال الإمام أحمد : حدثنا يحيى بن غيلان ، حدثنا رشدين ، حدثني عمرو بن الحارث ، عن أبي السمح ، عن أبي الهيثم ، عن أبي سعيد قال : إن النبي - صلى الله عليه وسلم - قال : " المؤمنون في الدنيا على ثلاثة أجزاء : [ الذين ] آمنوا بالله ورسوله ثم لم يرتابوا وجاهدوا بأموالهم وأنفسهم في سبيل الله . والذي يأمنه الناس على أموالهم وأنفسهم . ثم الذي إذا أشرف على طمع تركه لله عز وجل " .
