Quran 53:31

Surah An-Najm, Verse 31

وَلِلَّهِ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ لِيَجْزِىَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَسَٰٓـُٔوا۟ بِمَا عَمِلُوا۟ وَيَجْزِىَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُوا۟ بِٱلْحُسْنَى

Word by word

وَلِلَّهِ walillahi And for Allah مَا mā (is) whatever فِى fī (is) in ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ l-samāwāti the heavens وَمَا wamā and whatever فِى fī (is) in ٱلْأَرْضِ l-arḍi the earth لِيَجْزِىَ liyajziya that He may recompense ٱلَّذِينَ alladhīna those who أَسَـٰٓـُٔوا۟ asāū do evil بِمَا bimā with what عَمِلُوا۟ ʿamilū they have done وَيَجْزِىَ wayajziya and recompense ٱلَّذِينَ alladhīna those who أَحْسَنُوا۟ aḥsanū do good بِٱلْحُسْنَى bil-ḥus'nā with the best

Transliteration

Walillahi ma fee assamawatiwama fee al-ardi liyajziya allatheena asaoobima AAamiloo wayajziya allatheena ahsanoobilhusna

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

And unto Allah belongeth whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth, that He may reward those who do evil with that which they have done, and reward those who do good with goodness.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

Yea, to Allah belongs all that is in the heavens and on earth: so that He rewards those who do evil, according to their deeds, and He rewards those who do good, with what is best.

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

يخبر تعالى أنه مالك السماوات والأرض ، وأنه الغني عما سواه ، الحاكم في خلقه بالعدل ، وخلق الخلق بالحق ، ( ليجزي الذين أساءوا بما عملوا ويجزي الذين أحسنوا بالحسنى ) أي : يجازي كلا بعمله ، إن خيرا فخير ، وإن شرا فشر .
