Quran 54:29

Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 29

فَنَادَوْا۟ صَاحِبَهُمْ فَتَعَاطَىٰ فَعَقَرَ

Word by word

فَنَادَوْا۟ fanādaw But they called صَاحِبَهُمْ ṣāḥibahum their companion فَتَعَاطَىٰ fataʿāṭā and he took فَعَقَرَ faʿaqara and hamstrung

Transliteration

Fanadaw sahibahum fataAAatafaAAaqar

But they called to their companion, and he took a sword in hand, and hamstrung (her).

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

ثم قال تعالى : ( فنادوا صاحبهم فتعاطى فعقر ) قال المفسرون : هو عاقر الناقة ، واسمه قدار بن سالف ، وكان أشقى قومه . كقوله : ( إذ انبعث أشقاها ) [ الشمس : 12 ] . ) فتعاطى ) أي : فجسر
