Quran 58:17

Surah Al-Mujaadila, Verse 17

لَّن تُغْنِىَ عَنْهُمْ أَمْوَٰلُهُمْ وَلَآ أَوْلَٰدُهُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ شَيْـًٔا أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلنَّارِ هُمْ فِيهَا خَٰلِدُونَ

Word by word

لَّن lan Never تُغْنِىَ tugh'niya will avail عَنْهُمْ ʿanhum them أَمْوَٰلُهُمْ amwāluhum their wealth وَلَآ walā and not أَوْلَـٰدُهُم awlāduhum their children مِّنَ mina against ٱللَّهِ l-lahi Allah شَيْـًٔا ۚ shayan (in) anything أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ ulāika Those أَصْحَـٰبُ aṣḥābu (will be) companions ٱلنَّارِ ۖ l-nāri (of) the Fire هُمْ hum they فِيهَا fīhā in it خَـٰلِدُونَ khālidūna will abide forever

Transliteration

Lan tughniya AAanhum amwaluhum walaawladuhum mina Allahi shay-an ola-ika as-habuannari hum feeha khalidoon

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

Their wealth and their children will avail them naught against Allah. Such are rightful owners of the Fire; they will abide therein.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

Of no profit whatever to them, against Allah, will be their riches nor their sons: they will be Companions of the Fire, to dwell therein (for aye)!

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

قال تعالى "لن تغني عنهم أموالهم ولا أولادهم من الله شيئا" أي لن يدفع ذلك عنهم بأسا إذا جاءهم "أولئك أصحاب النار هم فيها خالدون".
