Quran 59:6

Surah Al-Hashr, Verse 6

وَمَآ أَفَآءَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ رَسُولِهِۦ مِنْهُمْ فَمَآ أَوْجَفْتُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ خَيْلٍ وَلَا رِكَابٍ وَلَٰكِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُسَلِّطُ رُسُلَهُۥ عَلَىٰ مَن يَشَآءُ وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

Word by word

وَمَآ wamā And what أَفَآءَ afāa (was) restored ٱللَّهُ l-lahu (by) Allah عَلَىٰ ʿalā to رَسُولِهِۦ rasūlihi His Messenger مِنْهُمْ min'hum from them فَمَآ famā then not أَوْجَفْتُمْ awjaftum you made expedition عَلَيْهِ ʿalayhi for it مِنْ min of خَيْلٍۢ khaylin horses وَلَا walā and not رِكَابٍۢ rikābin camels وَلَـٰكِنَّ walākinna but ٱللَّهَ l-laha Allah يُسَلِّطُ yusalliṭu gives power رُسُلَهُۥ rusulahu (to) His Messengers عَلَىٰ ʿalā over مَن man whom يَشَآءُ ۚ yashāu He wills وَٱللَّهُ wal-lahu And Allah عَلَىٰ ʿalā (is) on كُلِّ kulli every شَىْءٍۢ shayin thing قَدِيرٌۭ qadīrun All-Powerful

Transliteration

Wama afaa Allahu AAalarasoolihi minhum fama awjaftum AAalayhi min khaylin walarikabin walakinna Allaha yusalliturusulahu AAala man yashao wallahuAAala kulli shay-in qadeer

Translations

And that which Allah gave as spoil unto His messenger from them, ye urged not any horse or riding-camel for the sake thereof, but Allah giveth His messenger lordship over whom He will. Allah is Able to do all things.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

What Allah has bestowed on His Messenger (and taken away) from them - for this ye made no expedition with either cavalry or camelry: but Allah gives power to His messengers over any He pleases: and Allah has power over all things.

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

يقول تعالى مبينا لمال الفيء وما صفته ؟ وما حكمه ؟ فالفيء : كل مال أخذ من الكفار بغير قتال ولا إيجاف خيل ، ولا ركاب ، كأموال بني النضير هذه ، فإنها مما لم يوجف المسلمون عليه بخيل ، ولا ركاب ، أي : لم يقاتلوا الأعداء فيها بالمبارزة والمصاولة ، بل نزل أولئك من الرعب الذي ألقى الله في قلوبهم من هيبة رسول الله - صلى الله عليه وسلم - فأفاءه الله على رسوله ; ولهذا تصرف فيه كما شاء ، فرده على المسلمين في وجوه البر والمصالح التي ذكرها الله ، عز وجل ، في هذه الآيات ، فقال : ( وما أفاء الله على رسوله منهم ) أي : من بني النضير ( فما أوجفتم عليه من خيل ولا ركاب ) يعني : الإبل ، ( ولكن الله يسلط رسله على من يشاء والله على كل شيء قدير ) أي : هو قدير لا يغالب ولا يمانع ، بل هو القاهر لكل شيء .
