Quran 7:147

Surah Al-A'raaf, Verse 147

وَٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا وَلِقَآءِ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ حَبِطَتْ أَعْمَٰلُهُمْ هَلْ يُجْزَوْنَ إِلَّا مَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ

Word by word

وَٱلَّذِينَ wa-alladhīna And those who كَذَّبُوا۟ kadhabū denied بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا biāyātinā Our Signs وَلِقَآءِ waliqāi and (the) meeting ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ l-ākhirati (of) the Hereafter حَبِطَتْ ḥabiṭat worthless أَعْمَـٰلُهُمْ ۚ aʿmāluhum (are) their deeds هَلْ hal Will يُجْزَوْنَ yuj'zawna they be recompensed إِلَّا illā except مَا mā (for) what كَانُوا۟ kānū they used to يَعْمَلُونَ yaʿmalūna do

Transliteration

Wallatheena kaththaboobi-ayatina waliqa-i al-akhiratihabitat aAAmaluhum hal yujzawna illama kanoo yaAAmaloon

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

Those who deny Our revelations and the meeting of the Hereafter, their works are fruitless. Are they requited aught save what they used to do?

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

Those who reject Our signs and the meeting in the Hereafter,- vain are their deeds: Can they expect to be rewarded except as they have wrought?

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

وقوله : ( والذين كذبوا بآياتنا ولقاء الآخرة حبطت أعمالهم ) أي : من فعل منهم ذلك واستمر عليه إلى الممات ، حبط عمله .

وقوله : ( هل يجزون إلا ما كانوا يعملون ) أي : إنما نجازيهم بحسب أعمالهم التي أسلفوها ، إن خيرا فخير وإن شرا فشر ، وكما تدين تدان .
