Quran 7:41
Surah Al-A'raaf, Verse 41

لَهُم مِّن جَهَنَّمَ مِهَادٌ وَمِن فَوْقِهِمْ غَوَاشٍ وَكَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ
Word by word
لَهُم lahum For them مِّن min of جَهَنَّمَ jahannama (the) Hell مِهَادٌۭ mihādun (is) a bed وَمِن wamin and from فَوْقِهِمْ fawqihim over them غَوَاشٍۢ ۚ ghawāshin coverings وَكَذَٰلِكَ wakadhālika And thus نَجْزِى najzī We recompense ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ l-ẓālimīna the wrongdoers
Transliteration
Lahum min jahannama mihadun waminfawqihim ghawashin wakathalika najzee aththalimeen
Translations
Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall
Theirs will be a bed of hell, and over them coverings (of hell). Thus do We requite wrong-doers.
Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali
For them there is Hell, as a couch (below) and folds and folds of covering above: such is Our requital of those who do wrong.
تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir
وقوله : ( لهم من جهنم مهاد ومن فوقهم غواش ) قال محمد بن كعب القرظي : ( لهم من جهنم مهاد ) قال : الفرش ، ( ومن فوقهم غواش ) قال : اللحف .
وكذا قال الضحاك بن مزاحم ، والسدي ، ( وكذلك نجزي الظالمين ) .
