Quran 10:7

Surah Yunus, Verse 7

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَرْجُونَ لِقَآءَنَا وَرَضُوا۟ بِٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَٱطْمَأَنُّوا۟ بِهَا وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ عَنْ ءَايَٰتِنَا غَٰفِلُونَ

Word by word

إِنَّ inna Indeed ٱلَّذِينَ alladhīna those who لَا lā (do) not يَرْجُونَ yarjūna expect لِقَآءَنَا liqāanā the meeting with Us وَرَضُوا۟ waraḍū and are pleased بِٱلْحَيَوٰةِ bil-ḥayati with the life ٱلدُّنْيَا l-dun'yā (of) the world وَٱطْمَأَنُّوا۟ wa-iṭ'ma-annū and feel satisfied بِهَا bihā with it وَٱلَّذِينَ wa-alladhīna and those هُمْ hum they عَنْ ʿan (are) of ءَايَـٰتِنَا āyātinā Our Signs غَـٰفِلُونَ ghāfilūna heedless

Transliteration

Inna allatheena la yarjoona liqaanawaradoo bilhayati addunyawatmaannoo biha wallatheenahum AAan ayatina ghafiloon

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

Lo! those who expect not the meeting with Us but desire the life of the world and feel secure therein, and those who are neglectful of Our revelations,

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

Those who rest not their hope on their meeting with Us, but are pleased and satisfied with the life of the present, and those who heed not Our Signs,-

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

يقول الله تعالى مخبرا عن حال الأشقياء الذين كفروا بلقاء الله يوم القيامة ولا يرجون في لقاء الله شيئا ، ورضوا بهذه الحياة الدنيا واطمأنت إليها أنفسهم .

قال الحسن : والله ما زينوها ولا رفعوها ، حتى رضوا بها وهم غافلون عن آيات الله الكونية فلا يتفكرون فيها ، والشرعية فلا يأتمرون بها ،
