Quran 11:32

Surah Hud, Verse 32

قَالُوا۟ يَٰنُوحُ قَدْ جَٰدَلْتَنَا فَأَكْثَرْتَ جِدَٰلَنَا فَأْتِنَا بِمَا تَعِدُنَآ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ

Word by word

قَالُوا۟ qālū They said يَـٰنُوحُ yānūḥu O Nuh قَدْ qad Indeed جَـٰدَلْتَنَا jādaltanā you disputed with us فَأَكْثَرْتَ fa-aktharta and you (have been) frequent جِدَٰلَنَا jidālanā (in) dispute with us فَأْتِنَا fatinā So bring us بِمَا bimā what تَعِدُنَآ taʿidunā you threaten us (with) إِن in if كُنتَ kunta you are مِنَ mina of ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ l-ṣādiqīna the truthful

Transliteration

Qaloo ya noohu qad jadaltanafaaktharta jidalana fa/tina bimataAAiduna in kunta mina assadiqeen

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

They said: O Noah! Thou hast disputed with us and multiplied disputation with us; now bring upon us that wherewith thou threatenest us, if thou art of the truthful.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

They said: "O Noah! thou hast disputed with us, and (much) hast thou prolonged the dispute with us: now bring upon us what thou threatenest us with, if thou speakest the truth!?"

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

يقول تعالى مخبرا عن استعجال قوم نوح نقمة الله وعذابه وسخطه ، والبلاء موكل بالمنطق : ( قالوا يا نوح قد جادلتنا فأكثرت جدالنا ) أي : حاججتنا فأكثرت من ذلك ، ونحن لا نتبعك ( فأتنا بما تعدنا ) أي : من النقمة والعذاب ، ادع علينا بما شئت ، فليأتنا ما تدعو به ، ( إن كنت من الصادقين)
