Quran 11:34

Surah Hud, Verse 34

وَلَا يَنفَعُكُمْ نُصْحِىٓ إِنْ أَرَدتُّ أَنْ أَنصَحَ لَكُمْ إِن كَانَ ٱللَّهُ يُرِيدُ أَن يُغْوِيَكُمْ هُوَ رَبُّكُمْ وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ

Word by word

وَلَا walā And (will) not يَنفَعُكُمْ yanfaʿukum benefit you نُصْحِىٓ nuṣ'ḥī my advice إِنْ in (even) if أَرَدتُّ aradttu I wish أَنْ an to أَنصَحَ anṣaḥa [I] advise لَكُمْ lakum [to] you إِن in if كَانَ kāna it was Allah's ٱللَّهُ l-lahu it was Allah's يُرِيدُ yurīdu will أَن an to يُغْوِيَكُمْ ۚ yugh'wiyakum let you go astray هُوَ huwa He (is) رَبُّكُمْ rabbukum your Lord وَإِلَيْهِ wa-ilayhi and to Him تُرْجَعُونَ tur'jaʿūna you will be returned

Transliteration

Wala yanfaAAukum nushee inaradtu an ansaha lakum in kana Allahuyureedu an yughwiyakum huwa rabbukum wa-ilayhi turjaAAoon

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

My counsel will not profit you if I were minded to advise you, if Allah's will is to keep you astray. He is your Lord and unto Him ye will be brought back.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

"Of no profit will be my counsel to you, much as I desire to give you (good) counsel, if it be that Allah willeth to leave you astray: He is your Lord! and to Him will ye return!"

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

( ولا ينفعكم نصحي إن أردت أن أنصح لكم إن كان الله يريد أن يغويكم ) أي : أي شيء يجدي عليكم إبلاغي لكم وإنذاري إياكم ونصحي ، إن كان الله يريد إغواءكم ودماركم ، ( هو ربكم وإليه ترجعون ) أي : هو مالك أزمة الأمور ، والمتصرف الحاكم العادل الذي لا يجور ، له الخلق وله الأمر ، وهو المبدئ المعيد ، مالك الدنيا والآخرة .
