Quran 11:85

Surah Hud, Verse 85

وَيَٰقَوْمِ أَوْفُوا۟ ٱلْمِكْيَالَ وَٱلْمِيزَانَ بِٱلْقِسْطِ وَلَا تَبْخَسُوا۟ ٱلنَّاسَ أَشْيَآءَهُمْ وَلَا تَعْثَوْا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ مُفْسِدِينَ

Word by word

وَيَـٰقَوْمِ wayāqawmi And O my people أَوْفُوا۟ awfū Give full ٱلْمِكْيَالَ l-mik'yāla measure وَٱلْمِيزَانَ wal-mīzāna and weight بِٱلْقِسْطِ ۖ bil-qis'ṭi in justice وَلَا walā and (do) not تَبْخَسُوا۟ tabkhasū deprive ٱلنَّاسَ l-nāsa the people أَشْيَآءَهُمْ ashyāahum (of) their things وَلَا walā and (do) not تَعْثَوْا۟ taʿthaw act wickedly فِى fī in ٱلْأَرْضِ l-arḍi the earth مُفْسِدِينَ muf'sidīna spreading corruption

Transliteration

Waya qawmi awfoo almikyala walmeezanabilqisti wala tabkhasoo annasaashyaahum wala taAAthaw fee al-ardimufsideen

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

O my people! Give full measure and full weight in justice, and wrong not people in respect of their goods. And do not evil in the earth, causing corruption.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

"And O my people! give just measure and weight, nor withhold from the people the things that are their due: commit not evil in the land with intent to do mischief.

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

ينهاهم أولا عن نقص المكيال والميزان إذا أعطوا الناس ثم أمرهم بوفاء الكيل والوزن بالقسط آخذين ومعطين ونهاهم عن العثو في الأرض بالفساد وقد كانوا يقطعون الطريق.
