Quran 12:103
Surah Yusuf, Verse 103

وَمَآ أَكْثَرُ ٱلنَّاسِ وَلَوْ حَرَصْتَ بِمُؤْمِنِينَ
Word by word
وَمَآ wamā And not أَكْثَرُ aktharu most ٱلنَّاسِ l-nāsi (of) the mankind وَلَوْ walaw even though حَرَصْتَ ḥaraṣta you desire بِمُؤْمِنِينَ bimu'minīna (will be) believers
Transliteration
Wama aktharu annasiwalaw harasta bimu/mineen

And though thou try much, most men will not believe.

Yet no faith will the greater part of mankind have, however ardently thou dost desire it.
تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir
يقرر تعالى أنه رسوله ، وأنه قد أطلعه على أنباء ما قد سبق مما فيه عبرة للناس ونجاة لهم في دينهم ودنياهم; ومع هذا ما آمن أكثر الناس; ولهذا قال : ( وما أكثر الناس ولو حرصت بمؤمنين ) وقال ( وإن تطع أكثر من في الأرض يضلوك عن سبيل الله ) [ الأنعام : 116 ] إلى غير ذلك من الآيات .
