Quran 12:59

Surah Yusuf, Verse 59

وَلَمَّا جَهَّزَهُم بِجَهَازِهِمْ قَالَ ٱئْتُونِى بِأَخٍ لَّكُم مِّنْ أَبِيكُمْ أَلَا تَرَوْنَ أَنِّىٓ أُوفِى ٱلْكَيْلَ وَأَنَا۠ خَيْرُ ٱلْمُنزِلِينَ

Word by word

وَلَمَّا walammā And when جَهَّزَهُم jahhazahum he had furnished them بِجَهَازِهِمْ bijahāzihim with their supplies قَالَ qāla he said ٱئْتُونِى i'tūnī Bring to me بِأَخٍۢ bi-akhin a brother لَّكُم lakum of yours مِّنْ min from أَبِيكُمْ ۚ abīkum your father أَلَا alā Do not تَرَوْنَ tarawna you see أَنِّىٓ annī that I أُوفِى ūfī [I] give full ٱلْكَيْلَ l-kayla [the] measure وَأَنَا۠ wa-anā and that I am خَيْرُ khayru (the) best ٱلْمُنزِلِينَ l-munzilīna (of) the hosts

Transliteration

Walamma jahhazahum bijahazihimqala i/toonee bi-akhin lakum min abeekum alatarawna annee oofee alkayla waana khayru almunzileen

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

And when he provided them with their provision he said: Bring unto me a brother of yours from your father. See ye not that I fill up the measure and I am the best of hosts?

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

And when he had furnished them forth with provisions (suitable) for them, he said: "Bring unto me a brother ye have, of the same father as yourselves, (but a different mother): see ye not that I pay out full measure, and that I do provide the best hospitality?

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

( ولما جهزهم بجهازهم ) أي : وفاهم كيلهم ، وحمل لهم أحمالهم قال : ائتوني بأخيكم هذا الذي ذكرتم ، لأعلم صدقكم فيما ذكرتم ، (ألا ترون أني أوفي الكيل وأنا خير المنزلين ) يرغبهم في الرجوع إليه
