Quran 12:92

Surah Yusuf, Verse 92

قَالَ لَا تَثْرِيبَ عَلَيْكُمُ ٱلْيَوْمَ يَغْفِرُ ٱللَّهُ لَكُمْ وَهُوَ أَرْحَمُ ٱلرَّٰحِمِينَ

Word by word

قَالَ qāla He said لَا lā No تَثْرِيبَ tathrība blame عَلَيْكُمُ ʿalaykumu upon you ٱلْيَوْمَ ۖ l-yawma today يَغْفِرُ yaghfiru Allah will forgive ٱللَّهُ l-lahu Allah will forgive لَكُمْ ۖ lakum you وَهُوَ wahuwa and He أَرْحَمُ arḥamu (is) the Most Merciful ٱلرَّٰحِمِينَ l-rāḥimīna (of) those who show mercy

Transliteration

Qala la tathreeba AAalaykumualyawma yaghfiru Allahu lakum wahuwa arhamu arrahimeen

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

He said: Have no fear this day! May Allah forgive you, and He is the Most Merciful of those who show mercy.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

He said: "This day let no reproach be (cast) on you: Allah will forgive you, and He is the Most Merciful of those who show mercy!

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

( قال لا تثريب عليكم اليوم ) يقول : لا تأنيب عليكم ولا عتب عليكم اليوم ، ولا أعيد ذنبكم في حقي بعد اليوم .

ثم زادهم الدعاء لهم بالمغفرة فقال : ( يغفر الله لكم وهو أرحم الراحمين )

قال السدي : اعتذروا إلى يوسف ، فقال : ( لا تثريب عليكم اليوم ) يقول : لا أذكر لكم ذنبكم .

وقال ابن إسحاق والثوري : ( لا تثريب عليكم [ اليوم ] ) أي : لا تأنيب عليكم اليوم عندي فيما صنعتم ( يغفر الله لكم ) أي : يستر الله عليكم فيما فعلتم ، ( وهو أرحم الراحمين )
