Quran 16:44

Surah An-Nahl, Verse 44

بِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ وَٱلزُّبُرِ وَأَنزَلْنَآ إِلَيْكَ ٱلذِّكْرَ لِتُبَيِّنَ لِلنَّاسِ مَا نُزِّلَ إِلَيْهِمْ وَلَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ

Word by word

بِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِ bil-bayināti With the clear proofs وَٱلزُّبُرِ ۗ wal-zuburi and the Books وَأَنزَلْنَآ wa-anzalnā And We sent down إِلَيْكَ ilayka to you ٱلذِّكْرَ l-dhik'ra the Remembrance لِتُبَيِّنَ litubayyina that you may make clear لِلنَّاسِ lilnnāsi to the mankind مَا mā what نُزِّلَ nuzzila has been sent down إِلَيْهِمْ ilayhim to them وَلَعَلَّهُمْ walaʿallahum and that they may يَتَفَكَّرُونَ yatafakkarūna reflect

Transliteration

Bilbayyinati wazzuburiwaanzalna ilayka aththikra litubayyina linnasima nuzzila ilayhim walaAAallahum yatafakkaroon

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

With clear proofs and writings; and We have revealed unto thee the Remembrance that thou mayst explain to mankind that which hath been revealed for them, and that haply they may reflect.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

(We sent them) with Clear Signs and Books of dark prophecies; and We have sent down unto thee (also) the Message; that thou mayest explain clearly to men what is sent for them, and that they may give thought.

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

ثم ذكر تعالى أنه أرسلهم ) بالبينات ) أي : بالدلالات والحجج ، ( والزبر ) وهي الكتب . قاله ابن عباس ، ومجاهد ، والضحاك وغيرهم .

والزبر : جمع زبور ، تقول العرب : زبرت الكتاب إذا كتبته ، وقال تعالى : ( وكل شيء فعلوه في الزبر ) [ القمر : 52 ] وقال : ( ولقد كتبنا في الزبور من بعد الذكر أن الأرض يرثها عبادي الصالحون ) [ الأنبياء : 105 ] .

ثم قال تعالى : ( وأنزلنا إليك الذكر ) يعني : القرآن ( لتبين للناس ما نزل إليهم ) من ربهم أي : لعلمك بمعنى ما أنزل عليك ، وحرصك عليه ، واتباعك له ، ولعلمنا بأنك أفضل الخلائق وسيد ولد آدم ، فتفصل لهم ما أجمل ، وتبين لهم ما أشكل : ( ولعلهم يتفكرون ) أي : ينظرون لأنفسهم فيهتدون ، فيفوزون بالنجاة في الدارين .
