Quran 16:60

Surah An-Nahl, Verse 60

لِلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ مَثَلُ ٱلسَّوْءِ وَلِلَّهِ ٱلْمَثَلُ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ وَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ

Word by word

لِلَّذِينَ lilladhīna For those who لَا lā (do) not يُؤْمِنُونَ yu'minūna believe بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ bil-ākhirati in the Hereafter مَثَلُ mathalu (is) a similitude ٱلسَّوْءِ ۖ l-sawi (of) the evil وَلِلَّهِ walillahi and for Allah ٱلْمَثَلُ l-mathalu (is) the similitude ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ ۚ l-aʿlā the Highest وَهُوَ wahuwa And He ٱلْعَزِيزُ l-ʿazīzu (is) the All-Mighty ٱلْحَكِيمُ l-ḥakīmu All-Wise

Transliteration

Lillatheena la yu/minoona bil-akhiratimathalu assaw-i walillahi almathalu al-aAAlawahuwa alAAazeezu alhakeem

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

For those who believe not in the Hereafter is an evil similitude, and Allah's is the Sublime Similitude. He is the Mighty, the Wise.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

To those who believe not in the Hereafter, applies the similitude of evil: to Allah applies the highest similitude: for He is the Exalted in Power, full of Wisdom.

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

وقال هاهنا : ( للذين لا يؤمنون بالآخرة مثل السوء ) أي : النقص إنما ينسب إليهم ، ( ولله المثل الأعلى ) أي : الكمال المطلق من كل وجه ، وهو منسوب إليه ، ( وهو العزيز الحكيم )
