Quran 16:65

Surah An-Nahl, Verse 65

وَٱللَّهُ أَنزَلَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءً فَأَحْيَا بِهِ ٱلْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَآ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً لِّقَوْمٍ يَسْمَعُونَ

Word by word

وَٱللَّهُ wal-lahu And Allah أَنزَلَ anzala has sent down مِنَ mina from ٱلسَّمَآءِ l-samāi the sky مَآءًۭ māan water فَأَحْيَا fa-aḥyā then gives life بِهِ bihi by it ٱلْأَرْضَ l-arḍa (to) the earth بَعْدَ baʿda after مَوْتِهَآ ۚ mawtihā its death إِنَّ inna Indeed فِى fī in ذَٰلِكَ dhālika that لَـَٔايَةًۭ laāyatan (is) surely a Sign لِّقَوْمٍۢ liqawmin for a people يَسْمَعُونَ yasmaʿūna who listen

Transliteration

Wallahu anzala mina assama-imaan faahya bihi al-arda baAAdamawtiha inna fee thalika laayatan liqawminyasmaAAoon

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

Allah sendeth down water from the sky and therewith reviveth the earth after her death. Lo! herein is indeed a portent for a folk who hear.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

And Allah sends down rain from the skies, and gives therewith life to the earth after its death: verily in this is a Sign for those who listen.

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

وكما جعل تعالى القرآن حياة للقلوب الميتة بكفرها ، كذلك يحيي [ الله ] الأرض بعد موتها بما ينزله عليها من السماء من ماء ، ( إن في ذلك لآية لقوم يسمعون ) أي : يفهمون الكلام ومعناه .
