Surah An-Nahl, Verse 64

وَمَآ أَنزَلْنَا عَلَيْكَ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ إِلَّا لِتُبَيِّنَ لَهُمُ ٱلَّذِى ٱخْتَلَفُوا۟ فِيهِ وَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةً لِّقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ

Word by word

وَمَآ wamā And not أَنزَلْنَا anzalnā We revealed عَلَيْكَ ʿalayka to you ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ l-kitāba the Book إِلَّا illā except لِتُبَيِّنَ litubayyina that you make clear لَهُمُ lahumu to them ٱلَّذِى alladhī that which ٱخْتَلَفُوا۟ ikh'talafū they differed فِيهِ ۙ fīhi in it وَهُدًۭى wahudan and (as) a guidance وَرَحْمَةًۭ waraḥmatan and mercy لِّقَوْمٍۢ liqawmin for a people يُؤْمِنُونَ yu'minūna who believe

Transliteration

Wama anzalna AAalayka alkitabailla litubayyina lahumu allathee ikhtalafoo feehiwahudan warahmatan liqawmin yu/minoon

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

And We have revealed the Scripture unto thee only that thou mayst explain unto them that wherein they differ, and (as) a guidance and a mercy for a people who believe.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

And We sent down the Book to thee for the express purpose, that thou shouldst make clear to them those things in which they differ, and that it should be a guide and a mercy to those who believe.

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

ثم قال تعالى لرسوله : أنه إنما أنزل عليه الكتاب ليبين للناس الذي يختلفون فيه ، فالقرآن فاصل بين الناس في كل ما يتنازعون فيه ) وهدى ) أي : للقلوب ، ( ورحمة ) أي : لمن تمسك به ، ( لقوم يؤمنون )
