Quran 17:75

Surah Al-Israa, Verse 75

إِذًا لَّأَذَقْنَٰكَ ضِعْفَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ وَضِعْفَ ٱلْمَمَاتِ ثُمَّ لَا تَجِدُ لَكَ عَلَيْنَا نَصِيرًا

Word by word

إِذًۭا idhan Then لَّأَذَقْنَـٰكَ la-adhaqnāka We (would) have made you taste ضِعْفَ ḍiʿ'fa double ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ l-ḥayati (in) the life وَضِعْفَ waḍiʿ'fa and double ٱلْمَمَاتِ l-mamāti (after) the death ثُمَّ thumma Then لَا lā not تَجِدُ tajidu you (would) have found لَكَ laka for you عَلَيْنَا ʿalaynā against Us نَصِيرًۭا naṣīran any helper

Transliteration

Ithan laathaqnaka diAAfaalhayati wadiAAfa almamati thumma latajidu laka AAalayna naseera

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

Then had we made thee taste a double (punishment) of living and a double (punishment) of dying, then hadst thou found no helper against Us.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

In that case We should have made thee taste an equal portion (of punishment) in this life, and an equal portion in death: and moreover thou wouldst have found none to help thee against Us!

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

إذا لأذقناك ضعف الحياة وضعف الممات ثم لا تجد لك علينا نصيرا

يخبر تعالى عن تأييد رسوله - صلوات الله عليه وسلامه - وتثبيته ، وعصمته وسلامته من شر الأشرار وكيد الفجار ، وأنه تعالى هو المتولي أمره ونصره ، وأنه لا يكله إلى أحد من خلقه ، بل هو وليه وحافظه وناصره ومؤيده ومظفره ، ومظهر دينه على من عاداه وخالفه وناوأه ، في مشارق الأرض ومغاربها ، صلى الله عليه وسلم تسليما كثيرا إلى يوم الدين .
