Quran 17:86

Surah Al-Israa, Verse 86

وَلَئِن شِئْنَا لَنَذْهَبَنَّ بِٱلَّذِىٓ أَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَيْكَ ثُمَّ لَا تَجِدُ لَكَ بِهِۦ عَلَيْنَا وَكِيلًا

Word by word

وَلَئِن wala-in And if شِئْنَا shi'nā We willed لَنَذْهَبَنَّ lanadhhabanna We (would) have surely taken away بِٱلَّذِىٓ bi-alladhī that which أَوْحَيْنَآ awḥaynā We have revealed إِلَيْكَ ilayka to you ثُمَّ thumma Then لَا lā not تَجِدُ tajidu you would find لَكَ laka for you بِهِۦ bihi concerning it عَلَيْنَا ʿalaynā against Us وَكِيلًا wakīlan any advocate

Transliteration

Wala-in shi/na lanathhabannabillathee awhayna ilayka thumma latajidu laka bihi AAalayna wakeela

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

And if We willed We could withdraw that which We have revealed unto thee, then wouldst thou find no guardian for thee against Us in respect thereof.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

If it were Our Will, We could take away that which We have sent thee by inspiration: then wouldst thou find none to plead thy affair in that matter as against Us,-

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

يذكر تعالى نعمته وفضله العظيم على عبده ورسوله الكريم ، فيما أوحاه إليه من القرآن المجيد ، الذي لا يأتيه الباطل من بين يديه ولا من خلفه ، تنزيل من حكيم حميد .

قال ابن مسعود ، رضي الله عنه : يطرق الناس ريح حمراء - يعني في آخر الزمان - من قبل الشام ، فلا يبقى في مصحف رجل ولا في قلبه آية ، ثم قرأ ابن مسعود : ( ولئن شئنا لنذهبن بالذي أوحينا إليك ) الآية .
