Quran 18:102

Surah Al-Kahf, Verse 102

أَفَحَسِبَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ أَن يَتَّخِذُوا۟ عِبَادِى مِن دُونِىٓ أَوْلِيَآءَ إِنَّآ أَعْتَدْنَا جَهَنَّمَ لِلْكَٰفِرِينَ نُزُلًا

Word by word

أَفَحَسِبَ afaḥasiba Do then think ٱلَّذِينَ alladhīna those who كَفَرُوٓا۟ kafarū disbelieve أَن an that يَتَّخِذُوا۟ yattakhidhū they (can) take عِبَادِى ʿibādī My servants مِن min besides Me دُونِىٓ dūnī besides Me أَوْلِيَآءَ ۚ awliyāa (as) protectors إِنَّآ innā Indeed, We أَعْتَدْنَا aʿtadnā We have prepared جَهَنَّمَ jahannama Hell لِلْكَـٰفِرِينَ lil'kāfirīna for the disbelievers نُزُلًۭا nuzulan (as) a lodging

Transliteration

Afahasiba allatheena kafarooan yattakhithoo AAibadee min doonee awliyaainna aAAtadna jahannama lilkafireena nuzula

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

Do the disbelievers reckon that they can choose My bondmen as protecting friends beside Me? Lo! We have prepared hell as a welcome for the disbelievers.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

Do the Unbelievers think that they can take My servants as protectors besides Me? Verily We have prepared Hell for the Unbelievers for (their) entertainment.

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

ثم قال ( أفحسب الذين كفروا أن يتخذوا عبادي من دوني أولياء ) أي : اعتقدوا أنهم يصح لهم ذلك ، وينتفعون بذلك ؟ ( كلا سيكفرون بعبادتهم ويكونون عليهم ضدا ) [ مريم : 82 ] ; ولهذا أخبر أنه قد أعد لهم جهنم يوم القيامة منزلا .
