Quran 18:87

Surah Al-Kahf, Verse 87

قَالَ أَمَّا مَن ظَلَمَ فَسَوْفَ نُعَذِّبُهُۥ ثُمَّ يُرَدُّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ فَيُعَذِّبُهُۥ عَذَابًا نُّكْرًا

Word by word

قَالَ qāla He said أَمَّا ammā As for مَن man (one) who ظَلَمَ ẓalama wrongs فَسَوْفَ fasawfa then soon نُعَذِّبُهُۥ nuʿadhibuhu we will punish him ثُمَّ thumma Then يُرَدُّ yuraddu he will be returned إِلَىٰ ilā to رَبِّهِۦ rabbihi his Lord فَيُعَذِّبُهُۥ fayuʿadhibuhu and He will punish him عَذَابًۭا ʿadhāban (with) a punishment نُّكْرًۭا nuk'ran terrible

Transliteration

Qala amma man thalamafasawfa nuAAaththibuhu thumma yuraddu ila rabbihifayuAAaththibuhu AAathaban nukra

Translations

He said: As for him who doeth wrong, we shall punish him, and then he will be brought back unto his Lord, Who will punish him with awful punishment!

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

He said: "Whoever doth wrong, him shall we punish; then shall he be sent back to his Lord; and He will punish him with a punishment unheard-of (before).

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

في قوله : ( أما من ظلم ) أي : من استمر على كفره وشركه بربه ( فسوف نعذبه ) قال قتادة : بالقتل : وقال السدي : كان يحمي لهم بقر النحاس ويضعهم فيها حتى يذوبوا . وقال وهب بن منبه : كان يسلط الظلمة ، فتدخل أفواههم وبيوتهم ، وتغشاهم من جميع جهاتهم والله أعلم .

وقوله : ( ثم يرد إلى ربه فيعذبه عذابا نكرا ) أي : شديدا بليغا وجيعا أليما . وفيه إثبات المعاد والجزاء .
