ذَٰلِكَ عِيسَى ٱبْنُ مَرْيَمَ قَوْلَ ٱلْحَقِّ ٱلَّذِى فِيهِ يَمْتَرُونَ

Word by word

ذَٰلِكَ dhālika That عِيسَى ʿīsā (was) Isa ٱبْنُ ub'nu (the) son مَرْيَمَ ۚ maryama (of) Maryam قَوْلَ qawla a statement ٱلْحَقِّ l-ḥaqi (of) truth ٱلَّذِى alladhī that which فِيهِ fīhi about it يَمْتَرُونَ yamtarūna they dispute

Transliteration

Thalika AAeesa ibnu maryamaqawla alhaqqi allathee feehi yamtaroon

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

Such was Jesus, son of Mary: (this is) a statement of the truth concerning which they doubt.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

Such (was) Jesus the son of Mary: (it is) a statement of truth, about which they (vainly) dispute.

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

يقول تعالى لرسوله محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم : عليه ذلك الذي قصصنا عليك من خبر عيسى ، " قول الحق الذي فيه يمترون " أي : يختلف المبطلون والمحقون ممن آمن به وكفر به; ولهذا قرأ الأكثرون : " قول الحق " برفع قول . وقرأ عاصم ، وعبد الله بن عامر : ( قول الحق ) .

وعن ابن مسعود أنه قرأ : " ذلك عيسى ابن مريم قال الحق " . والرفع أظهر إعرابا ، ويشهد له قوله تعالى : ( الحق من ربك فلا تكن من الممترين ) [ آل عمران : 59 ، 60 ] .
