Quran 19:65

Surah Maryam, Verse 65

رَّبُّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا فَٱعْبُدْهُ وَٱصْطَبِرْ لِعِبَٰدَتِهِۦ هَلْ تَعْلَمُ لَهُۥ سَمِيًّا

Word by word

رَّبُّ rabbu Lord ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ l-samāwāti (of) the heavens وَٱلْأَرْضِ wal-arḍi and the earth وَمَا wamā and whatever بَيْنَهُمَا baynahumā (is) between both of them فَٱعْبُدْهُ fa-uʿ'bud'hu so worship Him وَٱصْطَبِرْ wa-iṣ'ṭabir and be constant لِعِبَـٰدَتِهِۦ ۚ liʿibādatihi in His worship هَلْ hal Do تَعْلَمُ taʿlamu you know لَهُۥ lahu for Him سَمِيًّۭا samiyyan any similarity

Transliteration

Rabbu assamawati wal-ardiwama baynahuma faAAbudhu wastabirliAAibadatihi hal taAAlamu lahu samiyya

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them! Therefor, worship thou Him and be thou steadfast in His service. Knowest thou one that can be named along with Him?

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

"Lord of the heavens and of the earth, and of all that is between them; so worship Him, and be constant and patient in His worship: knowest thou of any who is worthy of the same Name as He?"

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

وقوله : ( رب السماوات والأرض وما بينهما ) أي : خالق ذلك ومدبره ، والحاكم فيه والمتصرف الذي لا معقب لحكمه ، ( فاعبده واصطبر لعبادته هل تعلم له سميا ) : قال علي بن أبي طلحة ، عن ابن عباس : هل تعلم للرب مثلا أو شبها .

وكذلك قال مجاهد ، وسعيد بن جبير ، وقتادة ، وابن جريج وغيرهم .

وقال عكرمة ، عن ابن عباس : ليس أحد يسمى الرحمن غيره تبارك وتعالى ، وتقدس اسمه .
