Quran 21:18

Surah Al-Anbiyaa, Verse 18

بَلْ نَقْذِفُ بِٱلْحَقِّ عَلَى ٱلْبَٰطِلِ فَيَدْمَغُهُۥ فَإِذَا هُوَ زَاهِقٌ وَلَكُمُ ٱلْوَيْلُ مِمَّا تَصِفُونَ

Word by word

بَلْ bal Nay نَقْذِفُ naqdhifu We hurl بِٱلْحَقِّ bil-ḥaqi the truth عَلَى ʿalā against ٱلْبَـٰطِلِ l-bāṭili [the] falsehood فَيَدْمَغُهُۥ fayadmaghuhu and it breaks its head فَإِذَا fa-idhā behold هُوَ huwa it (is) زَاهِقٌۭ ۚ zāhiqun vanishing وَلَكُمُ walakumu And for you ٱلْوَيْلُ l-waylu (is) destruction مِمَّا mimmā for what تَصِفُونَ taṣifūna you ascribe

Transliteration

Bal naqthifu bilhaqqiAAala albatili fayadmaghuhu fa-itha huwa zahiqunwalakumu alwaylu mimma tasifoon

Translations

Nay, but We hurl the true against the false, and it doth break its head and lo! it vanisheth. And yours will be woe for that which ye ascribe (unto Him).

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

Nay, We hurl the Truth against falsehood, and it knocks out its brain, and behold, falsehood doth perish! Ah! woe be to you for the (false) things ye ascribe (to Us).

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

وقوله : ( بل نقذف بالحق على الباطل ) أي : نبين الحق فيدحض الباطل; ولهذا قال : ( فيدمغه فإذا هو زاهق ) أي : ذاهب مضمحل ، ( ولكم الويل ) أي : أيها القائلون : لله ولد ، ( مما تصفون ) أي : تقولون وتفترون .

ثم أخبر تعالى عن عبودية الملائكة له ، ودأبهم في طاعته ليلا ونهارا
