Quran 21:77

Surah Al-Anbiyaa, Verse 77

وَنَصَرْنَٰهُ مِنَ ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَآ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ قَوْمَ سَوْءٍ فَأَغْرَقْنَٰهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ

Word by word

وَنَصَرْنَـٰهُ wanaṣarnāhu And We helped him مِنَ mina from ٱلْقَوْمِ l-qawmi the people ٱلَّذِينَ alladhīna who كَذَّبُوا۟ kadhabū denied بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَآ ۚ biāyātinā Our Signs إِنَّهُمْ innahum Indeed, they كَانُوا۟ kānū were قَوْمَ qawma a people سَوْءٍۢ sawin evil فَأَغْرَقْنَـٰهُمْ fa-aghraqnāhum so We drowned them أَجْمَعِينَ ajmaʿīna all

Transliteration

Wanasarnahu mina alqawmi allatheenakaththaboo bi-ayatina innahum kanooqawma saw-in faaghraqnahum ajmaAAeen

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

And delivered him from the people who denied Our revelations. Lo! they were folk of evil, therefor did We drown them all.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

We helped him against people who rejected Our Signs: truly they were a people given to Evil: so We drowned them (in the Flood) all together.

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

وقوله : ( ونصرناه من القوم ) أي : ونجيناه وخلصناه منتصرا من القوم ( الذين كذبوا بآياتنا إنهم كانوا قوم سوء فأغرقناهم أجمعين ) أي : أهلكهم الله بعامة ، ولم يبق على وجه الأرض منهم أحدا; إذ دعا عليهم نبيهم .
