Quran 26:22

Surah Ash-Shu'araa, Verse 22

وَتِلْكَ نِعْمَةٌ تَمُنُّهَا عَلَىَّ أَنْ عَبَّدتَّ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ

Word by word

وَتِلْكَ watil'ka And this نِعْمَةٌۭ niʿ'matun (is the) favor تَمُنُّهَا tamunnuhā with which you reproach عَلَىَّ ʿalayya [on] me أَنْ an that عَبَّدتَّ ʿabbadtta you have enslaved بَنِىٓ banī (the) Children of Israel إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ is'rāīla (the) Children of Israel

Transliteration

Watilka niAAmatun tamunnuha AAalayyaan AAabbadta banee isra-eel

And this is the past favour wherewith thou reproachest me: that thou hast enslaved the Children of Israel.

"And this is the favour with which thou dost reproach me,- that thou hast enslaved the Children of Israel!"

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

ثم قال موسى : ( وتلك نعمة تمنها علي أن عبدت بني إسرائيل ) أي : وما أحسنت إلي وربيتني مقابل ما أسأت إلى بني إسرائيل ، فجعلتهم عبيدا وخدما ، تصرفهم في أعمالك ومشاق رعيتك ، أفيفي إحسانك إلى رجل واحد منهم بما أسأت إلى مجموعهم؟ أي : ليس ما ذكرته شيئا بالنسبة إلى ما فعلت بهم .
