Quran 27:4

Surah An-Naml, Verse 4

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ زَيَّنَّا لَهُمْ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ فَهُمْ يَعْمَهُونَ

Word by word

إِنَّ inna Indeed ٱلَّذِينَ alladhīna those who لَا lā (do) not يُؤْمِنُونَ yu'minūna believe بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ bil-ākhirati in the Hereafter زَيَّنَّا zayyannā We have made fair-seeming لَهُمْ lahum to them أَعْمَـٰلَهُمْ aʿmālahum their deeds فَهُمْ fahum so they يَعْمَهُونَ yaʿmahūna wander blindly

Transliteration

Inna allatheena la yu/minoonabil-akhirati zayyanna lahum aAAmalahumfahum yaAAmahoon

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

Lo! as for those who believe not in the Hereafter, We have made their works fairseeming unto them so that they are all astray.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

As to those who believe not in the Hereafter, We have made their deeds pleasing in their eyes; and so they wander about in distraction.

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

ولهذا قال هاهنا : ( إن الذين لا يؤمنون بالآخرة ) أي : يكذبون بها ، ويستبعدون وقوعها ( زينا لهم أعمالهم فهم يعمهون ) أي : حسنا لهم ما هم فيه ، ومددنا لهم في غيهم فهم يتيهون في ضلالهم . وكان هذا جزاء على ما كذبوا به من الدار الآخرة ، كما قال تعالى : ( ونقلب أفئدتهم وأبصارهم كما لم يؤمنوا به أول مرة ونذرهم في طغيانهم يعمهون ) [ الأنعام : 110 ]
