Quran 29:32

Surah Al-Ankaboot, Verse 32

قَالَ إِنَّ فِيهَا لُوطًا قَالُوا۟ نَحْنُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَن فِيهَا لَنُنَجِّيَنَّهُۥ وَأَهْلَهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱمْرَأَتَهُۥ كَانَتْ مِنَ ٱلْغَٰبِرِينَ

Word by word

قَالَ qāla He said إِنَّ inna Indeed فِيهَا fīhā in it لُوطًۭا ۚ lūṭan (is) Lut قَالُوا۟ qālū They said نَحْنُ naḥnu We أَعْلَمُ aʿlamu know better بِمَن biman who فِيهَا ۖ fīhā (is) in it لَنُنَجِّيَنَّهُۥ lanunajjiyannahu We will surely save him وَأَهْلَهُۥٓ wa-ahlahu and his family إِلَّا illā except ٱمْرَأَتَهُۥ im'ra-atahu his wife كَانَتْ kānat She مِنَ mina (is) of ٱلْغَـٰبِرِينَ l-ghābirīna those who remain behind

Transliteration

Qala inna feeha lootanqaloo nahnu aAAlamu biman feehalanunajjiyannahu waahlahu illa imraatahu kanat minaalghabireen

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

He said: Lo! Lot is there. They said: We are best aware of who is there. We are to deliver him and his household, all save his wife, who is of those who stay behind.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

He said: "But there is Lut there." They said: "Well do we know who is there: we will certainly save him and his following,- except his wife: she is of those who lag behind!"

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

( قال إن فيها لوطا قالوا نحن أعلم بمن فيها لننجينه وأهله إلا امرأته كانت من الغابرين ) أي : من الهالكين ; لأنها كانت تمالئهم على كفرهم وبغيهم ودبرهم
