Quran 3:71
Surah Aal-i-Imraan, Verse 71

يَٰٓأَهْلَ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ لِمَ تَلْبِسُونَ ٱلْحَقَّ بِٱلْبَٰطِلِ وَتَكْتُمُونَ ٱلْحَقَّ وَأَنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ
Word by word
يَـٰٓأَهْلَ yāahla O People ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ l-kitābi (of) the Book لِمَ lima Why تَلْبِسُونَ talbisūna do you mix ٱلْحَقَّ l-ḥaqa the truth بِٱلْبَـٰطِلِ bil-bāṭili with the falsehood وَتَكْتُمُونَ wataktumūna and conceal ٱلْحَقَّ l-ḥaqa the truth وَأَنتُمْ wa-antum while you تَعْلَمُونَ taʿlamūna know
Transliteration
Ya ahla alkitabi limatalbisoona alhaqqa bilbatili wataktumoonaalhaqqa waantum taAAlamoon

O People of the Scripture! Why confound ye truth with falsehood and knowingly conceal the truth?

Ye People of the Book! Why do ye clothe Truth with falsehood, and conceal the Truth, while ye have knowledge?
تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir
"يا أهل الكتاب لم تلبسون الحق بالباطل وتكتمون الحق وأنتم تعلمون" أي تكتمون ما في كتبكم من صفة محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم وأنتم تعرفون ذلك وتتحققونه.
