Quran 32:10

Surah As-Sajda, Verse 10

وَقَالُوٓا۟ أَءِذَا ضَلَلْنَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ أَءِنَّا لَفِى خَلْقٍ جَدِيدٍۭ بَلْ هُم بِلِقَآءِ رَبِّهِمْ كَٰفِرُونَ

Word by word

وَقَالُوٓا۟ waqālū And they say أَءِذَا a-idhā Is (it) when ضَلَلْنَا ḍalalnā we are lost فِى fī in ٱلْأَرْضِ l-arḍi the earth أَءِنَّا a-innā will we لَفِى lafī certainly be in خَلْقٍۢ khalqin a creation جَدِيدٍۭ ۚ jadīdin new بَلْ bal Nay هُم hum they بِلِقَآءِ biliqāi in (the) meeting رَبِّهِمْ rabbihim (of) their Lord كَـٰفِرُونَ kāfirūna (are) disbelievers

Transliteration

Waqaloo a-itha dalalnafee al-ardi a-inna lafee khalqin jadeedin bal humbiliqa-i rabbihim kafiroon

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

And they say: When we are lost in the earth, how can we then be re-created? Nay but they are disbelievers in the meeting with their Lord.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

And they say: "What! when we lie, hidden and lost, in the earth, shall we indeed be in a Creation renewed? Nay, they deny the Meeting with their Lord.

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

يقول تعالى مخبرا عن المشركين في استبعادهم المعاد حيث قالوا : ( أئذا ضللنا في الأرض ) أي : تمزقت أجسامنا وتفرقت في أجزاء الأرض وذهبت ، ( أئنا لفي خلق جديد ) ؟ أي : أئنا لنعود بعد تلك الحال ؟! يستبعدون ذلك ، وهذا إنما هو بعيد بالنسبة إلى قدرتهم العاجزة ، لا بالنسبة إلى قدرة الذي بدأهم وخلقهم من العدم ، الذي إنما أمره إذا أراد شيئا أن يقول له كن فيكون; ولهذا قال : ( بل هم بلقاء ربهم كافرون )
