Quran 33:48

Surah Al-Ahzaab, Verse 48

وَلَا تُطِعِ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ وَٱلْمُنَٰفِقِينَ وَدَعْ أَذَىٰهُمْ وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ وَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ وَكِيلًا

Word by word

وَلَا walā And (do) not تُطِعِ tuṭiʿi obey ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ l-kāfirīna the disbelievers وَٱلْمُنَـٰفِقِينَ wal-munāfiqīna and the hypocrites وَدَعْ wadaʿ and disregard أَذَىٰهُمْ adhāhum their harm وَتَوَكَّلْ watawakkal and put your trust عَلَى ʿalā in ٱللَّهِ ۚ l-lahi Allah وَكَفَىٰ wakafā And sufficient is Allah بِٱللَّهِ bil-lahi And sufficient is Allah وَكِيلًۭا wakīlan (as) a Trustee

Transliteration

Wala tutiAAi alkafireenawalmunafiqeena wadaAA athahum watawakkalAAala Allahi wakafa billahiwakeela

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

And incline not to the disbelievers and the hypocrites. Disregard their noxious talk, and put thy trust in Allah. Allah is sufficient as Trustee.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

And obey not (the behests) of the Unbelievers and the Hypocrites, and heed not their annoyances, but put thy Trust in Allah. For enough is Allah as a Disposer of affairs.

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

وقوله : ( ولا تطع الكافرين والمنافقين ودع أذاهم ) ، أي : لا تطعهم و [ لا ] تسمع منهم في الذي يقولونه ( ودع أذاهم ) أي : اصفح وتجاوز عنهم ، وكل أمرهم إلى الله ، فإن فيه كفاية لهم; ولهذا قال : ( وتوكل على الله وكفى بالله وكيلا ) .
